Because sometimes, especially for younger kids, they might not get what a certain word means, or a grammar concept (because it is all immersion, no translation) then you might need to get involved just for a minute or two sometimes to help him/her get what a certain word means, or why the grammar works that way. But so far (I am in 8th grade) I have not run into anything I need help with. This program is designed to not run into those kind of problems, so it would be very rare when your child would run into that kind of problem. But it might be more common if you child is under 6th grade.
Most delightful
This program is designed to match all learning styles. It has something for every learner. I look forward to my Rosetta Stone lessons because I know I will be learning something new, and each lesson I become more and more comfortable with the language. Of course sometimes when you review, work on grammar, etc. it might be a little boring because sometimes it takes a lot of repeats to get a concept. But you are not required to do every single review or exercise, just the ones you feel you need to do. At least for the personal version, you just need to do what you feel like you need to do.

Finally Found It!
For years I have been looking for a good foreign language learning program. My brothers tried RosettaStone version two a while ago and with the Latin language. They did not like it at all. So we gave up on RosettaStone completely till recently. We learned that they had made an update, a version three. The trial version was great, and the price was lowered for a limited time. So we bought the spanish version, all three sets.
Wow! I am so glad that we bought them, they are so worth the money. I don't know how you could make a better foreign language program. The photos, the design, the learning method, everything is perfect. The third version is definitely a winner. If you have tried RosettaStone before and did not like it, you have to give it another chance. Their new version is great! I finally feel confident in my spanish learning, and am motivated to learn other languages too!
My Child's age:
11-18
I believe it works good for ages 11 and up. Though it is nice, and even sometimes fun, it isn't really aimed at younger children. It can still be very challenging ( there is not easy way to learn a language) and it is not really that fun. For younger children I believe songs, and fun workbooks is the way to go.
Nothing offensive
No involvement necessary
Somewhat Interesting
It isn't meant to be fun, but it is interesting, and it isn't boring.

Immersion, Fun, Professional, AND GREAT!
We recently purchased all three of the: Latin American Spanish version three rosetta stone courses. My whole family LOVES them. My older brothers had used the first version for latin a long time ago, it was boring, and very un fun for them. But the third version is much improved! They use the best voice recognition technology to be able to help your accent. They teach you a second language the way you learned you first language, immersion. I look forward to foreign language ins school every day, as does my brothers and sisters. We have tried so many different courses for learning languages I believe we wouldn't be able to count them all, but finally we have found a good course!
One of my sisters and me have been so happy with rosetta stone that it has encouraged us to hopefully learn more languages after we finish with spanish.
I believe this is the best language learning tool out there, but just remember to get the latest version, it is really have improved from the first version!
Probably the youngest you should go with this program is fourth or fifth grade, depending on how mature your child is. But I believe this program would work best with jr. highers and highschoolers, of course adults are welcome too.
My youngest child who used it was 11 and the eldest was 18
