Alpha Omega Publications established Alpha Omega Academy in 1992 as an additional service to those families who wanted to home school, yet still desired the teaching and support of an educational institution. The mail correspondence program originally serviced grades K–8, using the LIFEPAC work text curriculum. Grades 9–12 were added later. In 1997, AOP introduced the Switched-On Schoolhouse (SOS) multimedia curriculum. The following year, it created Alpha Omega Academy Online to allow students the support of an academy with the educational power of SOS. The SOS computer-based program grew quickly, servicing grades 3–12. The two Academy programs were developed separately and operated independently of each other for several years. Now, however, in order to service our families even more effectively, the two Academy programs have become integrated into one school, enrolling students with their choice of either LIFEPAC or SOS curriculum, or even a combination of both.(from publisher)
